A tracker and an immobiliser address different parts of vehicle security. A tracker helps locate a vehicle; an additional immobiliser introduces a separate authorisation step. For a supercar, choosing between them starts with your existing equipment, your insurance requirements and the way you use the car.

What does a tracker do?

A tracking system reports a vehicle's location. With a monitored stolen-vehicle recovery product, the monitoring provider also has a role in responding to alerts and coordinating the recovery process. The exact alerts, coverage, driver recognition and response arrangements depend on the product and active subscription.

A parking-location pin is different: it records where you left the car and does not, by itself, show where a stolen vehicle has travelled. IMMOSTOP includes parked-car location; live tracking in the same app is a paid upgrade. Ask about the upgrade's equipment and service requirements separately from any insurance-specified monitored tracker.

What does an additional immobiliser do?

An immobiliser controls authorisation to start or drive, according to the system and vehicle. Supported products may use a PIN entered through vehicle controls, an authorised tag or compatible phone proximity. An extra authorisation step can remain separate from possession of the vehicle key.

Check how the chosen system handles a flat phone, an additional driver or a service visit. A convenient daily routine is part of a useful security recommendation. No system makes a car theft-proof, and compatibility must be confirmed for the exact model and production year.

When does a combined setup make sense?

If you want an independent authorisation step alongside a recovery service, discuss a compatible tracker and immobiliser package. Some trackers also offer immobilisation functions, but that does not mean every tracker provides the same prevention features as a separate immobiliser. Confirm precisely what will be supplied and enabled.

Read our supercar tracker options and immobiliser guide before requesting a quote. Remote immobilisation, where provided, must follow the manufacturer's procedure and must never be used to stop a moving vehicle.

Bring these details to the conversation

  • Make, model, production year and any existing security.
  • Your insurer's exact written requirements.
  • Who drives the car and how often it goes into storage.
  • Your fitting postcode and preferred location.

We can then discuss a setup and itemised fitted quote. Keep device locations, security PINs and override information out of general enquiries.
